I created this mock nonalcoholic sangria to serve at school events. My hope is that it hits the same funky, acidic, maybe even tannic notes of wine. All of these ingredients are available at my local Aldi. Don't skip the red wine vinegar - it really sells it!

Ingredients

  • kombucha
  • fruit juice, pomegranate or black cherry
  • red wine vinegar, few dashes
  • lemon-lime soda
  • orange slices
Add to shopping list

Preparation

  1. 1 min

Mix all ingredients. Honestly, I don't know the ratios; I just mixed the amounts that they sell at the store and adjusted to taste.

  2. 1 min

    Garnish with orange slices.

Notes

You can probably use any flavor of kombucha. I've used mixed berry and guava flavors of kombucha and both came out fine. The fruit flavors kind of "cancel out" and produce something generically fruity. The funk and acidity from the kombucha is dominant, but the fruit juice gives it the sangria color.
