Preheat your oven to 200°C. Cut a lid from the top of each roll and hollow out the inside, leaving good walls so they don't collapse.
Tear the scooped bread into small pieces - this goes back into our kai mixture, nothing wasted here.
Brush the inside of each roll with melted butter to give them a good golden base.
In a bowl, combine the tuna, chopped eggs, relish, mayonnaise, torn bread pieces, and most of the cheese cubes - save some cheese for the top. (My kuia always said to taste as you go - add more mayo if it seems dry)
Spoon the mixture generously into each roll, then top with the remaining cheese cubes.
Place the filled rolls in a shallow baking dish and bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese melts and the tops turn golden.
