Heat the oil in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the torn tortilla pieces and fry until golden brown and crispy, stirring frequently so they don't burn. (The tortillas should sound crisp when you tap them with your spoon)
Beat the eggs with milk, salt, and pepper in a bowl until well mixed.
Pour the beaten eggs over the fried tortillas in the skillet. Let them set for a moment, then gently scramble everything together until the eggs are cooked through but still soft.
Taste and adjust salt and pepper. Serve immediately while hot.
