Ingredients

  • 16 ounces
    chicken
  • ¼ cup
    flour, (could substitute cornstarch)
  • ½ teaspoon
    ginger
  • 1 tablespoon
    garlic
  • ½ cup
    water
  • ½ cup
    low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup
    brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon
    red pepper flakes, add less or leave out for a less spicy dish optional
  • ½ cup
    green onions optional

Preparation

  1. 1 min, 30 secs

    Combine water and brown sugar until brown sugar is dissolved. Add soy sauce and red chili flakes. Set aside.

  2. 5 mins

    Cut chicken into bite-size pieces and toss in bowl with flour.

  3. 2 mins

    Spray skillet with cooking spray and heat. Add garlic, sauté, then add ginger.

  4. 6 mins

    Add chicken to pan and cook through.

  5. 10 secs

    Add soy sauce mixture to pan.

  6. 15 mins

    Allow the sauce to cook down and thicken. Chop green onions while you wait.

    Serve over rice or noodles. Garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

Chicken can easily be swapped out for steak strips or tofu. Make extra sauce and toss in your favorite stir-fry vegetables for a more balanced dish.
